I tend to read nothing but non-fiction business books.  I really enjoy the subject and have learned a lot over the years.

Over the years there have been some very good book, some okay book and some very bad books.

This page has the book title and a short overview of my thoughts on the book.

I will add to this list over time, so be sure to sign up for the book club mailing list where you will receive free email updates each time I read and review a book.  This is a separate club so if you’re already a VOSA Insider and want to receive the book reports please be sure to sign up using the form below.

The Personal MBA Book Review

The Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman

This is an excellent book for anyone who is the lease bit interested in pursuing entrepreneurship. The author provides an interesting view point on the value of an MBA vs a "Personal MBA". This is an excellent read and the first book in the VOSA Book Club that received a perfect 10/10. Read it and you'll see why.

The Lean Startup Book Review

The Lean Startup by Eric Ries

This booked change the way I launch a business, product or service. The concept of getting a product out to market as a minimum viable product (MVP) was a revolutionary concept for me. Before this book I would spent way too long tying to perfect the product or website before seeing what the public through about it. It also taught me not to worry about vanity metrics like traffic and focus on conversions. A must read in my books.

Crush It Book Review

Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuk

Gary is a very passionate individual and extremely passionate about motivating you to use the tools at your disposal to build your persona brand. I downloaded this one from Audible.com and listened to it while working out. I really enjoyed the audio format because Gary veers off the script many times to inject personal anecdotes and updates since the book was published.

Mindless Eating Book Review

Mindless Eating by Brian Wansink, Ph.d.

An eye opening book about how the mind plays tricks on your stomach into eating way more food than we actually need. This book shares some in depth studies that were done that exposed some of the triggers that lead us all to eat mindlessly. After reading this book I purchased new, smaller, dishes and have made a conscience effort to be mindful while eating.

Tuesdays With Morrie Book Review

Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom

I found this book to be incredibly sad in an inspiration way. If you think you will be embarrassed by someone else seeing you shed some tears while reading then I recommend you read this book in private. I starting reading this book on an airplane and had to stop because I didn't want the baby in the row in front of me to get accused of crying his eyes out and disturbing the other passengers when really it was me blubbering away. This book will make you think about what's important in life. It's a quick read but it had a big impact on me and I recommend you read it as well.
